Global e-commerce giant Amazon has announced its partnership with Startup India to launch Amazon Global Selling Propel (AGSP) which is an initiative designed to help Indian startups in the acquisition of customers worldwide.
AGSP is basically an accelerator program with a board of top mentors who will assist Indian startups with 1:1 mentorship to help them launch their consumer products in the global marketplace. The board of mentors will consist of top leaders in Amazon and abroad, Venture Capitalists as well as senior personnel from Startup India and Invest India who will share their expertise and guide Indian startups to excel in the global e-commerce sector.
Propel by Amazon is all set to select 10 Indian startups who will be a part of this accelerator program and the top 3 of these startups will also get a chance to win a $50,000 equity-free grant from Amazon. Moreover, Amazon has also partnered with Fireside Ventures and Sequoia Capital India so that these startups can pitch their propositions to the VCs for funding.
The mentorship by Amazon will be carried out for six weeks for these early-age startups wherein they will be provided with ample resources, exposure to Amazon global marketplace, and assistance in the export promotion of their consumer products.
Amit Agarwal, Country Head, Amazon India said, “Amazon Global Selling, our flagship program to grow exports from India is witnessing tremendous momentum with increasing interest from exporters across India. With Amazon Global Selling we will continue to make exports simple and accessible to businesses of all sizes and fulfill our commitment of enabling $10 billion in e-commerce exports from India by 2025.”
This will further scale up Indian startups’ position in the global export scenario and will bring in expertise for them to learn and get insights from the leaders in the e-commerce industry.
