A Delhi-based podcast hosting, creation and distribution startup, Hubhopper has raised an undisclosed amount of funds from Hindustan Times Media.
Hubhopper was founded in 2015 by Gautam Raj Anand in New Delhi. About the recent funding they received, Gautam says, “Audio is an incredibly special medium. It’s more language, literacy and capital agnostic than its contemporaries and has a special place in the hearts and lives of Indian people. Hubhopper’s endeavor along with Hindustan Media is to continue to champion this community and democratize podcasting for all. We have only scratched the tip of this iceberg.”
Hubhopper is one of the growing podcast companies of India following the trend of audio content creation and distribution and they aim to make podcasting technology easy and accessible to everyone in India.
They have over 50 plus partners including Spotify, Samsung, Wynk, PayTM, Karbonn, etc. and they plan to continue growing their podcast network and distribution in the coming times.
With the recently received funding from HT Media, Hubhopper plans to expand and democratize the podcast ecosystem in India and they strive to empower Indian creators to monetize their audio content in various capabilities.
Before this series of funding, Hubhopper has also received funding of around $1.3 Mn from ITI Growth Opportunities Fund, Unit-E Ventures and other angel investors.
Audio content creation, specially podcasting has seen a rise in the global market in recent years. Statistics say that the audience has diversified more than ever before with around 57% of monthly podcast listeners are white, 16% Latino, 13% African American, 4% Asian, and 10% of some other background.
Thus emerging podcasting platforms are doing their best to bring up various ways of creating newer avenues of increase in audio content exposure in order to enable people to master the art of podcasting.
