Royal Canin India has introduced a nationwide 360-degree awareness campaign to highlight the importance of balanced nutrition during the early stages of a puppy's and kitten's life. Developed by 22feet, part of Omnicom Advertising India, the initiative encourages pet owners to rethink traditional feeding practices and understand the role of scientifically formulated nutrition in supporting healthy growth and development.
According to the company, fewer than 15 percent of pet owners in India currently use packaged pet food, with most relying on home-cooked meals such as rice, chicken, vegetables, and rotis. While these meals are often prepared with care and affection, Royal Canin believes they may not always provide the complete range of nutrients required for growing pets.
Built around the message, "Love is the #1 ingredient, but your puppy or kitten needs 35+ nutrients more," the campaign seeks to shift the conversation from good intentions to informed nutrition. Citing nutritional studies, the company notes that many home-prepared diets may not fully meet the dietary requirements of young pets, despite the commitment of their owners.
As part of the initiative, Royal Canin has partnered with veterinarians through its Pediatric Vet Care Programme to encourage new pet parents to seek professional guidance during the early stages of pet ownership. The programme offers expert advice on nutrition, growth, and preventive healthcare, including complimentary veterinary consultations for new pet owners in Mumbai.
The campaign is being promoted through a mix of digital content, pet-parent influencers, community outreach programmes, veterinarian-led educational sessions, and interactive workshops. These activities are designed to help pet owners make informed feeding decisions based on scientific guidance rather than long-standing habits.
By combining education with expert support, Royal Canin aims to inspire a new generation of pet parents to prioritise complete and balanced nutrition, ensuring puppies and kittens receive the essential nutrients needed for a healthy and active start to life.
